Verisign has announced a change to the .COM and .NET deletion time, effective October 1, 2026. Here is what it means for you.
1. New deletion time
- Current: 14:00 U.S. Eastern Time, which shifts with daylight saving and falls at 02:00 Singapore time the next day.
- From October 1: 12:00 UTC, or 20:00 Singapore time. This time is fixed and will no longer move with U.S. daylight saving.
- Applies to: .COM and .NET
2. New backorder deadline
From October 1, 2026, the GNAME backorder deadline is 18:00 Singapore time on the day after the deletion period.
Because of the new deletion time, actual deletion and drop-catch result times may shift for some domains. The final times shown on the platform are the authoritative reference.
3. Upcoming price changes
The registry is adjusting its pricing:
- .COM: expected from November 1, 2026
- .NET: expected from March 1, 2027
GNAME will confirm exact prices and effective dates in a later announcement. If you have renewals coming up, we recommend arranging them ahead of these dates.
